Family-School partnerships empower parents and caregivers to assume confident roles in caring for their children and advocating for their educational and developmental needs.  This session describes the Metro Omaha Superintendents’ Early Childhood Plan, highlighting the role of families within the comprehensive approach designed to end achievement gaps by starting early.  Join a team from the Buffett Early Childhood Institute to explore strategies for entering into new forms of collaborative relationships with families on behalf of children birth – age 8.

Learning Objectives:

  1. Learn about the birth through Grade 3 continuum of research-based practices that is a core component of the Metro Omaha Superintendents’ Early Childhood Plan.
  2. Examine how early educators’ intentional and non-intentional language and actions matter when seeking to partner with young children’s families.
  3. Identify specific strategies to engage in two-way communication and develop personalized relationships with families.
